London’s smallest art exhibition opens filled with lovely miniature works of art

London is hosting the next big thing – in miniature format. The unique Small is Beautiful: Miniature Art Exhibition experience is coming to South Kensington from April 15.

Visitors will be immersed in the worlds of the miniature art movement, stemming from the social media #MiniatureArt movement. Although social media has popularized it, this art form has been around since ancient Egyptian times and now miniature works are coming to the UK for the first time.

The exhibition will feature over 130 miniature artworks and 80 photos from 32 around the world, including France, UK, Ukraine and India. All of the artists featured are renowned in their fields and include works like Bosnian Jasenko Dordevic’s sculpture of a mother and daughter small enough to fit on the tip of a pencil.

The exhibition defends all the little things

The exhibition will also feature local talent with London-based photographer Slinkachu, who has over 180,000 subscribers, showcasing his “Miniature Street Art”. In it, he uses everyday objects to create tiny real-life situations like a snake attacking a family where a shoelace is the monster.

Serge Victoria, director and original producer of the exhibition, said: “One of the main objectives of the exhibition is to allow the public to experience miniature art in real life. There is a difference between looking at a Instagram post and get “inside the screen” and see the work up close and personal.”
