Roanoke Sidewalk Art Show Winners Announced | Local News


There were 112 performers at this year’s 64th Annual Sidewalk Art Show on Saturday and Sunday around the Roanoke City Market.

All the artists present at the fair have gone through a selection process before being accepted to exhibit their works. Mediums included jewelry, fine art, photography, painting, fine art, sculpture, mixed media, drawing, and original printmaking.

The show – organized by the Taubman Museum of Art, with support from Blue Ridge Beverage Company, Grand Home Furnishings and LinDor Arts – featured artists from as close as Roanoke and as far away as Maine and Miami.

Guest juror and director of Experience Art and Exhibitions Corwyn Garman spent most of Saturday meeting with each artist before selecting this year’s award winners.

Nickolai Walko took home the Best Show award for his mixed media work, while second place went to Black Gore and third place went to John Shoemaker.

Merit Awards sponsored by LinDor Arts went to Brook Ludy, Marlee Kauffman, Shelly LaTreill, David Blanchard and Phillip Barret Jr.

Meanwhile, Cathy Vaugh won the J. Gail Geer Sculpture Award, Leah Thompson received the Allen Ingles Palmer Award, ZL Feng won the Micki Kagey Watercolor Award, and the Paul Ostaseski Memorial Award went to Veronica Vale.

The show continues on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free entry.
