Turkish Culture and Cuisine Week Held in Oman | Oman time

Muscat: Turkish Culture and Cuisine Week was organized by the Turkish Embassy in cooperation with Turkish Airlines and Muscat Grand Millennium Hotel.

“I am pleased to announce Turkish Culture and Cuisine Week for the first time in Oman from today until May 27,” said Ayse Sozen Usluer, Ambassador of the Republic from Turkey to the Sultanate.

“We believe that Oman is an oasis of peace and wisdom and Turkey is the cradle of civilizations, both with their centuries-old history. And it’s time to bring them together and celebrate them on a cultural occasion.”

“It is a great happiness for all of us to come together on this occasion, especially after the boring days of the long lockdowns due to the global pandemic. During the week, Omani sisters and brothers as well as people of all nationalities will enjoy of the highest examples of Turkish art, music and gastronomy.Because Oman deserves the best, we have brought you the best and most distinguished examples of these arts and crafts from Türkiye.

The Opening Gala is under the auspices of Her Highness Sayyida Dr. Muna bint Fahd Al Said, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International Cooperation of Sultan Qaboos University. “We will also have other high dignitaries as guests of honour: His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Diplomatic Affairs; and His Excellency Ahmed Al Humaidi, President of Muscat Municipality will be with us.”

“The event is a clear symbol of our excellent relations with historical ties dating back to the 16th century, trusting and deep-rooted political relations, trade volume and economic relations of $1.5 billion, and finally cultural ties. very strong through our people. to human relations,” added the Ambassador.

“I believe that Turkish Culture and Cuisine Week will become a symbol of our everlasting relationship.”

Held for the first time this year from May 21-27, Turkish Food Week aims to showcase Turkish dishes with all their original qualities as the crowning glory of our tables. The event is celebrated simultaneously with promotional events in Turkey and abroad.

“Regarding the gastronomy book entitled “Turkish cuisine with timeless recipes”, which was published under the direction of First Lady Emine Erdoğan and under the auspices of the Presidency with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism , we aim to promote the richness of Turkish cuisine to a global audience. Published in Turkish and English, the book presents 218 healthy, traditional and zero waste food recipes. I can sum up the slogan of the book: healthy, traditional and zero waste waste !!!”

“We live in a world that is becoming increasingly insufficient to meet the needs of humanity. Instead of just enjoying our food, we should consider eating waste-free, ecological and sustainable. Turkish cuisine has all these characteristics With that understanding, we invited award-winning Turkish chef Sinem Özler, who also contributed to the book Timeless Recipes, to Muscat for bringing this unique perspective to our Omani sisters and brothers first hand.

“And, we have chosen particular examples of Ottoman art because they represent the essence of all the historical developments that have occurred in all artistic fields, especially in architecture, calligraphy, illumination and ceramics.”

“We have a full program throughout the week which I want to inform you about shortly: the week will present the cultural and gastronomic dimensions of Turkey.

Throughout the week, we will be showcasing the most distinguished delicacies of traditional Ottoman Turkish cuisine prepared by award-winning chef Sinem Özler and her team.”

“Additionally, talented exponents of traditional Turkish arts will demonstrate their art during the week at the Muscat Grand Millennium Hotel. For water marbling, artist Önder Cankurtaran who is also a prayer beet artisan; for the miniature, Ms. Halime Karataş; for the traditional Turkish tiles, Ms. Gizem Kanbur will present their talents to us.”

“At the Bait Al Zubair Museum, we have combined two major art collections: first, the exhibition of calligraphy and illumination by Mr. and Mrs. Hüsrev and Naciye Subaşı entitled “Al Multazim”; second, the exhibition of paintings from Istanbul by artist Mr. Selahattin Kara from Collection of Mr. Mehmet Çebi Mr. and Mrs. Subaşı, as well as Mr. Çebi are here in Oman, we will do with them the opening of the exhibitions during the opening gala These exhibitions will continue from today until the 3rd of June.”

“Last but not least, Professor Hüsrev Subaşı will give a lecture titled “The Art of Calligraphy and Calligraphic Ottoman Sultans” here in Bait Al Zubair on May 23. And the famous Turkish musician Mr. Sedat Anar and his band will perform a breathtaking concert on the same day, also here in Bait Al Zubair.”
