Be creative at Childers Festival 2022 – Bundaberg Now

A number of free art activities are featured in the festival programme, including the Art Walk and a Friday session at the Childers Art Space, ensuring there is something for everyone in art.

Year after year, the arts form a big part of the highly anticipated Childers Festival, and this year is no exception, with both interactive sessions and the chance to see the Childers Arts Space exhibits on offer.

A number of free art activities are featured in the holiday program including the Art Walk and a Friday session at Childers Arts Space, ensuring there is something for everyone in art.

Spokesman for the Council’s arts, culture and events portfolio, Cr John Learmonth, said it was great for people to have the opportunity to engage their creative side while also having the opportunity to explore what was on offer at the Childers Arts Space.

“There’s something for young and old about the arts events that are part of the Childers Festival, and it’s fantastic that people can visit the Childers Arts Space and see a local exhibit as part of the event. four days,” Cr Learmonth said.

“It’s great to see the Childers Visual Art Group returning for another year, offering their interactive Arts in the Park activity on the Saturday before festival day.”

The artistic events offered throughout the four-day festival include:

Art walk

The Childers Arts Space Art Walk offers the opportunity to delve deeper into the current exhibitions, as well as each of the works of art that make up the exhibition.

Afterwards, visitors are invited to a delicious morning tea on the quaint veranda of Childers Arts Space, served on the galleries’ collection of vintage tableware.

July’s Art Walk focuses on Meeting History in Miniature by local artist Marilyn Murray.

The exhibition, inspired by Marilyn’s encounters with hangouts and landmarks throughout her travels, features 100 miniature paintings, none larger than the size of a pocket notebook.

Marilyn’s popular art style draws the viewer in and takes them on a journey with her.

Friday session

Childers Arts Space’s Friday session on the gallery’s beautiful veranda is the perfect way to kick off a weekend of festival celebrations.

Enjoy performances by famous local musician Chris Dingley and a drink from the cash bar, while watching the sun set over Childers.

A Friday session is not to be missed!

Arts in the park

Presented by Childers Visual Art Group at Millennium Park, Arts in the Park will feature Childers’ longest-running painting, with young and old invited to add to this work.

There will also be activities for children, works of art for sale and art demonstrations.
