Cool Crest Miniature Golf Reopens This Weekend

Cool Crest Miniature Golf and its Metzger Biergarten reopen this weekend, just in time for Spring Break.

The golf course which opened in 1929 features two 18-hole mini-golf courses as well as many Art Deco touches added by its second owners, Maria and Harold Metzger.

The Andry family now own the course, having revived it after it sat idle for a few years from 2008. They reopened in 2013 and in 2020 added the Metzger Biergarten, where patrons can sample beer beer or wine after a game of mini golf. This year they will also inaugurate a large dance floor in front of the biergarten, perfect for the live music evenings scheduled every Friday and Saturday. (The course was also chosen by SAM readers for Best Golf Course in Best of the City 2022.)

To celebrate their reopening this weekend, the course will host Los Callejeros de San Anto for live Tex-Mex music from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday followed by Los #3 Dinners, a local garage rock band, on Saturday night. Stone Bro’s pizza will also be on site with wood-fired pies from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Tex BBQ will be selling food from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays.

Saturday will also mark the first monthly vegetable and handicraft market, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For Spring Break, March 8-12, Cool Crest will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Regular hours (5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays) will resume from March 17.
